A popular high street Wetherspoon pub offering the widest choice of real ale in the local branch area from 17 handpumps. The pub opened in 1994 on the site of a 1930's cinema, explaining the Wizard of Oz theme which includes a huge sculpture of a lion. The pub contains a large L-shaped single bar with alcoves for small groups down one side.

The pub hosts regular mini beer festivals and other beer-related events including Meet the Brewer evenings. Ask about "CAMRA Nights", when a 50p/pint discount is available on purchases of cask ale simply on presentation of a valid CAMRA ID card (no voucher needed).
