23/01/26 - no cask ale was available. It seems they are having a problem in the cellar with the lines freezing over. Until this is sorted cask availability my be restricted but it seems to have improved. We now understand that there is a discount for CAMRA Members.
Was closed for major refurb Autumn 2025, now operated by Stanley Inns. 14/11/25 - our reporter says, "Yesterday morning there appeared to be four beers on tap. By the time I arrived in the evening, the Wadworth 6X was off but the other three remained. The Hereford Pale (Wye Valley) was excellent (£5.90) the Horizon Golden a Wadworth beer. I did not try the Purity UBU Amber." We do not know what beers will be regular and what not. A recent vistor came acroos Ghost Ship, Butcombe Original and Otter Bitter. Sounds very positive for the cask beer drinker.
Some of the details though - such as opening hours - may no longer be correct but they are as shown on Google.
At one time operated by Ed Mason of Five Points Brewery, the pub underwent a fine refurbishment. This large Victorian establishment still has vestiges of the old separate saloon bar and public bar entrances, with a central bar and retains some original features, such as the front fireplace and side-entrance floor tiling and some etched glass - while there is a separate lounge. Sport on several TVs (Arsenal are a strong favourite). Buses 38,30,56, N38. Benches at the side and a garden in summer.
