First licensed in 1830 and rebuilt in 1892, this venue had been thought permanently closed as a pub in January 2016 when it was sold by Greene King, with a stated restrictive clause that it not be run as a pub again. However it magically re-emerged as a gastropub, Brook House. It's run by Mark Dyer and Eamonn Manson, a duo who achieved success with three other local pubs, since sold on. The venue is mainly laid out for diners but casual drinkers can obtain a drink at the bar and some space is available for them. Noted in 2026 that cask ale was no longer available. Food options include Sunday roasts but definitely do not include any "pub favourites" such as burgers, fish & chips or pizza!
