A popular, cosy, well furnished corner tavern built in 1826 (apparently originally as a reading room); once a Whitbread pub it was bought by Shepherd Neame in the early part of this century. There is a single U-shaped room with a central bar, and largely banquette seating but with a few stools also. Many of the pictures and prints on the walls relate to the Duke of Wellington, including a framed Wellesley family tree. Situated between Sloane Square and Victoria, this is perhaps a quieter option for drinking than many of the venues nearer those stations.
