Two bar pub said to hold the oldest excise licence in the City. A long and thin pub entered down a narrow alley. Built shortly after the great fire of Lindon, and licenced ever since. The impressive iron gates are reputed to have been a gift from William and Mary after what must gave been an enjoyable visit (well it beats an online review)! There are two separate bars but joined by a short corridor, with the larger available for hire. There are now four handpumps in each bar offering the same beers from thd Nicholsons range. There is also a cellar bar (used as a restaurant) and a well used set of outdoor tables. All the sports TVs have been removed and it is very much in the "classic" Nicholsons style again, though there is always some background music. A popular menu covers sandwich, nibbles and main meal options, plus selections of bar snacks for sharing. Due to the historic building features there is no level access, and the corridor is quite narrow.
