The Palmerston is a locals' pub in the traditional two-bar style, tucked down a quiet street away from the town centre. It has been refurbished (2018) and has a new beer garden, with heated booths. It opens at noon on Bank Holidays. The current signage reflects a change from the old name 'Lord Palmerston' to the shorter name that has informally been used for many years. The new licensee has resumed the provision of cask ale, from February 2026.
